This years SoccerEx was held in South Africa, aimed at promoting the country to the football community and coincide with the 2010 World Cup draw. At SoccerEx in late November, TSN officially launched its South African office, tasked with servicing our current clients in the region and developing our business within South Africa and beyond. The team were busy at SoccerEx, with Shawn Bishop, a product of our Soccer Management and Scouting course and South African international playing legend Gary McNab, who will also be responsible for the scouting of potential emerging talent.
Progressive Eredivise club Vitesse Arnhem have become the latest
Dutch club to utilise the full range of unique scouting, database and support
services. Following a visit to our offices in the UK, both the Technical
Director and Chief Scout were sufficiently impressed, where we look forward to
a long and successful partnership.
As part of our ongoing support to client clubs, TSN
will again be covering the African Cup of Nations, which this year will be held
in Ghana between 20 January and 10 February 2008. As always our end of
tournament report will have a report on every player who takes the field, plus
this time we will have a library of DVD's of every game. If you wish to
pre-purchase this report, then please contact TSN.
As TSN look to expand its service and services to clients, we have
been fortunate to recruit John Connolly, who will look after and develop our
clients in Scotland. John has a wealth of footballing experience, having played
for St Johnstone, Everton, Birmingham City, Newcastle United and Hibernian,
together with managing Motherwell, Ayr United, Queen of the South and St
Johnstone in Scotland. John currently performs the role of SPL match delegate
and will join up with Jon Harrison our current scout in that area.
TSN have also brought in Patricio Figuerio, an ex-player and now a freelance journalist based in Argentina, who will be responsible for both scouting and looking after the South American element of the Worldwide Player Directory.
Between 26-28
December 2007, TSN will be exhibiting its scouting and consultancy services to
delegates at SoccerEx 2007, which this year will be held in Johannesburg, South
Africa. With numerous top clubs and football related businesses present at the
world's largest football exhibition, we are looking forward to promoting our
unique services to the world game from stand 740.
For two years, TSN has been developing and tutoring a
Soccer Management and Scouting course to potential scouts, agents and coaches
within the USA, via the successful sports education business Sports Management
Worldwide. Over the past few months, this successful 8 week on-line internet
course, has been rolled out to students worldwide, with shorter internal
courses also available. To find out more about these courses contact either or .
With clients based across a number of time zones, TSN has further
extended its Support Centre service by providing 24 hour coverage, via both
e-mail and phone, an initiative driven by ourselves to ensure our clients get
the best possible service. As a worldwide provider of football information, we
are pleased with the initial reaction to this service from club managers and
chief scouts.
During the opening two months of the season TSN scouts covered
nearly 400 games worldwide, providing team and player assessment to client
clubs, with games in Russia, France, Spain, Portugal, Korea, Latvia, Italy,
Holland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, USA, South Africa, Scotland,
England, Argentina and Brazil. To find out more about how your club can utilise
our worldwide team of scouts, contact the office by either phone or e-mail.

been notified of its qualification for government funding by the UK Trade and
Investment department (formerly UK DTI), providing financial support for
travel, translation services and exhibition grants. This generous support will
greatly enhance the ability to develop our unique services in to more
countries.

the comprehensive services TSN provides to its clients. Together with the
successful addition of our Worldwide Player Directory and UK only databases,
TSN now has 42 contracted English clubs, making it the leading provider of
player information within the English professional game.
During June
and July, TSN ran four highly successful training days at its Birmingham
offices for over 40 scouts from around the globe. These sessions were part of
our ongoing commitment towards the training of scouts, as we strive to meet the
increasing demands of clubs, yet at the same time ensure we maintain the high
standards our customers have come to expect.
Yeovil
Town manager Russell Slade recently sang the praises of The Scouting Network in
the Sunday Independent.
"Yeovil Town last season purchased a technology-based scouting system, and this has proved so useful that we have just upgraded in time for this summer and next season. We have had reports from the network on players that we have chased - and that has helped us to build a bigger picture of those individuals. The Scouting Network gives every conceivable detail on every player in England and beyond."
Assistant manager Steve Thompson added, "This system will always be at hand to get all the information that we require about players from outside this club. With this in mind, it has and will continue to be invaluable to us."

waits for the finish of both the Copa America and FIFA Under-20 tournaments,
leaving just the UEFA Under-19 tournament and Nordic Youth Cup to end our
busiest summer yet for tournament reviews. These reviews will bring together
recommendation lists for each tournament and individual player assessments on
well over 1,500 players from all over the globe.

Make-A-Wish grants magical wishes to children and young people
fighting life-threatening illnesses. The charity was founded in the UK in 1986
and, since then, has granted over 4,200 wishes. Whether a wish is to be a
princess or a policeman for a day, or just enjoy some special time away from
home with their family, a wish come true brings so much to a child's life and
provides memories for the family that last a lifetime.
TSN have been providing football related support for the past six months to this worthwhile charity and is pleased to link up as an official partner.
Due to the growing demand from client clubs to utilise our unique
worldwide scouting services, The Scouting Network is actively looking to
recruit scouts for next season from both within and outside of the UK. Ideally,
we will be looking for individuals with previous scouting experience and have
sufficient computer skills to transfer their reports directly in to our
tailor-made, yet user friendly software package.

Jeremy
Langdon of Sky Sports News visited the TSN offices last month to run a feature
on the science of scouting, however, was so intrigued by the professionalism
and size of our worldwide scouting operation, he had a go for himself,
compiling a four minute piece, which went out hourly to millions of
viewers.
During
March, TSN have taken on three new members of staff. Paul Bilecki will look
after our youth development programme, working closely with Umbro and our
Premier League Academy clients. Kevin Russell will take control of the UK
Scouting, liasing with our 39 client clubs and 35 scouts. To ensure everything
runs smoothly, TSN have employed Samantha Rich, who has vast experience in
office management, accounts and secretarial support. TSN also moved in to its
own self-contained unit within the picturesque surroundings of Bordesley Hall
as part of the company expansion.

The Scouting Network (TSN)
has linked up with UMBRO, one of the World's leading Sports Manufacturers, as
part of a joint initiative in helping identify talented young UK players, in
order to support them with their footballing development.
The partnership will see TSN provide four regional scouts, who will monitor youth football in their areas and feedback their information to UMBRO, via the internet to their own secure and personalised database.
As part of a bigger agreement, TSN scouts worldwide will now be seen wearing UMBRO jackets at games, ending our two year agreement with Errea.
Following the huge success of the UK Support Centre, which has
provided confidential information, consultancy and scouting on players, TSN has
now formally launched its Worldwide Support Centre in response to demand from
its own client clubs worldwide. The team will continue to be run from the
Birmingham office, however, will pull together and liase with its extensive
contacts worldwide, in our efforts to provide its client clubs with the best
possible service.
As
part of our ongoing support to its client clubs, TSN have had scouts at both
Under-20 World Youth Cup Qualifying tournaments, which were held in Paraguay,
South America and DR of Congo in Africa. Both tournaments will be held in
January 2007 and will have on display some of the best emerging talent on those
continents. Concurrently, through late January and February, TSN will be in La
Manga, Spain and Algarve, Portugal, providing individual player assessments on
all the teams who compete in the International Under-17 and 19 tournaments.
This month, The Scouting Network will be launching its new
recruitment service for professional football clubs, which has been a direct
result of our continued servicing of clients needs, however, this time we will
be looking to support clubs with the recruitment of key staff.
TSN has reacted quickly to meet the needs of busy chairman and managers within professional football, looking to work with, find, report on and assist in the process of recruiting the following staff:

United) joined Derek Bragg and Tim Henderson of TSN, who managed to finish a
creditable fifth out of nineteen. To find out more about our partnership and

clients throughout the UK and Europe. The games ranged from Internationals

Oregon. The courses are filled with individuals from all walks of life,

Rotherham United, a team in administration and starting the season
10 points adrift of everyone else, has turned to The Scouting Network to help
them with their scouting and recruitment of players. A recent official website
statement from the club praised our efforts during the close season, with Chief
Operating Officer, Paul Douglas, commenting, "A lot of clubs have a scouting
system that can be very expensive and for a club of our size is beyond our
means. So, being able to work with The Scouting Network has been a big plus for
us, as the help we have received has been invaluable". Paul concluded, "We are
very grateful to The Scouting Network and we hope they continue to point us in
the right direction".
For more information on this interview, go to the Rotherham United website.
The Scouting Network and Mercedes of Wolverhampton have joined
forces, as part of a joint venture, which is aimed to promote both businesses
throughout the UK. Our scouts will be seen brandishing the Mercedes of
Wolverhampton logo on their new jackets, plus all outgoing reports and
circulars to client football clubs. TSN is delighted to be partnered with such
a distinguished car company and look forward to a successful relationship.
The successful Grassroots Administration System has a
new backer from the beginning of next season. The Birmingham County Football
Association has become the first County FA to actively endorse the product and
will help promote the system to not only its Chartered Standard Clubs, but also
all of their affiliated member clubs. The software, which has been designed to
help Club Secretaries and Coaches, is quickly becoming the standard at
Grassroots level.

As
part of our ongoing relationship with the Professional Footballers Association
(PFA) and FootballCV.com, The Scouting Network will be sending scouts to the
exit trials on Thursday, 13th July 2006, to be held at The Bucks Head ground,
home of Telford United Football Club. The aim is to provide a short assessment
on each player and a recommendations list, which will follow a similar format
taken from our end of tournament reviews.
During April 2006, The
Scouting Network and Sports Management Worldwide had a constructive first
meeting with FIFA at their Headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland, regarding the
promotion and accreditation of the "Soccer Management and Scouting Course".
Ralph Strauss, Head of Business Development and New Media at FIFA were
impressed with the course content, technology and subsequent interest already
in the course worldwide. Further discussions are to continue after the World
Cup in Germany.
As
The Scouting Network's profile rises in the Far East, a recent article appeared
in the main Singapore Paper, The Straits Times. This article has subsequently
been taken up by two Football magazines in China and Japan. Following excellent
coverage earlier in the year from the UK based Four-Four-Two and Soccer USA, it
has directed current and prospective scouts towards our "Soccer Management and
Scouting Course", run in conjunction with our partners Sports Management
Worldwide. For more information on the

The Scouting Network, in partnership with US based company Sports Management Worldwide saw the completion of its inaugural course in February, with subsequent courses either fully subscribed or filling up quickly.
Students from as far away as Senegal, Azerbaijan, Switzerland, Nigeria, Portugal, UK and the US have given the course a thumbs up. The feedback from the course has been encouraging, with one student stating "The Soccer Management and Scouting Course was more like receiving on the job training. I will recommend anyone serious about getting into soccer management to enroll for this course. My soccer management consulting company and academy will greatly benefit from what Derek Bragg and fellow students shared with me during the course. Soccer all over the world lacks proper management and every effort must be done for administrators in soccer to attend this fantastic course."
The Scouting Network has continued to supply its healthy client base, with tournament reports from the African Cup of Nations in Cairo, La Manga 2006 and the joint Under-17 and 19 tournaments, again held in La Manga. Find out more >>.

customer "Support Centre". The "Centre" has been set up to service our clients
ever increasing demand for information and scouting of players worldwide.

reopening, the centre provided concurrent support to 19 of our clients. The
service has been extremely popular with clubs of all levels, providing them
with detailed lists of players for certain positions, knowledge of their
availability, their agents and independent scouting assessments.
Many of the forward thinking clubs are already using the "Centre" in preparation for the January window, identifying potential targets along with our trained staff and having them monitored regularly before making a final decision.

England's dream of winning the 2006 World Cup in
Germany will face its biggest threat not from Europe, but from South America
and Africa. Those are the key features to emerge from The Scouting Network's
summer coverage of the FIFA World Youth Championships and Confederations Cup.
Nigeria's achievement in reaching the World Youth final was a clear indication that the trickle of talent from Africa is becoming a flood, and The Scouting Network's detailed reports on such players has proven very significant to clubs and agencies. Meanwhile, the Confederations Cup final between Brazil and Argentina raised the prospect of a South American side winning the World Cup in Europe for the first time since the young Pele burst onto the scene in 1958.
